Application Process

Pin Oak is an application-only campus. Students may apply to attend Pin Oak through our Magnet Program, or with a Boundary Option transfer. There is only one application that is necessary to complete. All students apply to Pin Oak through the magnet application. Applications will be available through our website as soon as HISD makes them available.

Magnet

Students residing anywhere in HISD may apply for the Pin Oak Magnet Program. The application period will begin in November, during Magnet Awareness Week.

Magnet applications will be accepted November 7th, 2011 to January 6th, 2012 (postmarked).
Parent notification of application status will be mailed to parents on March 23rd, 2012 (postmarked).
Parents must notify Magnet School of Choice of your student's intent to attend by April 9th, 2012 (postmarked).

Boundary Option

Students residing in the Jane Long, Johnston or Pershing Middle School attendance zones are eligible to apply for a Boundary Option transfer to Pin Oak Middle School. This application process runs concurrently with the Magnet application process, beginning in November, and ending with an application deadline in early January.
