Courses

Pin Oak's Language Arts department includes both English and Reading classes. All sixth and seventh grade students, as required by the HISD, are enrolled in PreAP English. Sixth graders also take Reading. In eighth grade, students may take grade-level or PreAP English. Reading is offered to those who qualify.

Summer Reading

Summer Reading Journals will be collected by your teacher at the start of the school year. Please make sure to select one of the books off your summer reading list and keep a journal using the proper format. Use the provided guidelines. Summer reading assignments can be downloaded from the summer work page.

Attention all incoming 8th Grade English students

If you have Ms. Parker, Ms. Leahy, or Ms. Garcia for 8th grade English, you are required to have a copy of Lord of the Flies by William Golding in class by Wednesday, September 1.  In addition to studying this novel in class, there will be at-home reading requirements.
