About Us

Pin Oak Middle School was established in 2002 and has the distinction of being an "application only" school. Families that live in the boundary zones that normally feed Johnston, Jane Long or Pershing Middle Schools can apply to Pin Oak's regular program. Pin Oak is also a magnet school for foreign languages and offers Spanish, Latin, French, Italian, Chinese and Hebrew; applications through the Magnet program are a second avenue to gain entrance to the school.

Pin Oak has established itself as one of the finest Middle Schools in the HISD system and has been recognized across the State of Texas for its accomplishments. In 2008, Pin Oak was named a National Blue Ribbon School as well as a TEA Exemplary School. The Anti-Defamation League of Houston awarded Pin Oak the "No Place for Hate" designation in 2007 and in 2008 Pin Oak was also honored as a Texas Business Education Coalition school.
