The Pin Oak Foreign Language Magnet Program accepts 130 students each year from all over the Houston Independent School District. Our program immerses students in culture and language during the 6th grade year in The Exploration of Languages. This survey course allows students to explore culture and language from around the world, including Chinese, French, Italian, Latin and Spanish. Students narrow their focus for foreign language instruction during 7th and 8th grade. Students may choose from Chinese, French, Italian, Latin, Hebrew and Spanish.

The Sequential Track of language study is comprised of successful completion of the same language during 7th and 8th grade, providing the student with one high school foreign language credit. The Native Speaker’s Track requires placement testing and allows students to earn two high school credits, one in 7th grade and one in 8th grade.

While students in the Magnet Program are automatically placed in House C, they continue to interact with all students of the school through their elective classes, extra-curricular activities, projects, events and more.
