Courses

Pin Oak's Language Arts department includes both English and Reading classes. All sixth and seventh grade students, as required by the HISD, are enrolled in PreAP English. Sixth graders also take Reading. In eighth grade, students may take grade-level or PreAP English. Reading is offered to those who qualify.

Summer Reading

Summer Reading Journals will be collected by your teacher at the start of the school year. Please make sure to select one of the books off your summer reading list and keep a journal using the proper format. Use the provided guidelines.

7th Grade Reading Projects

Students in seventh grade can look up their Reading Project book lists at Texas Lone Star List. This list applies only to the spring semester. Students may not choose Drums, Girls, & Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick (as this will be one of their summer reading requirements.)
