Social Studies

The social studies department offers a varied set of courses along with many activities throughout the year. In sixth grade students study World Cultures in their grade level or PreAP/GT course. The seventh grade year explores Texas history in grade level and PreAP/GT course. In eighth grade, students focus on U.S. history up to Reconstruction in both levels of courses. All students participate in the National History Day Project. Pin Oak has had the honor of sending students to the state competition in each year of participation.
